Since I started the Great American Roadtrip in my Airstream, I’ve come to love this lifestyle. I love not only the freedom of having a house on wheels, but the small living. The Airstream is extremely cozy and comfortable. One of the things I really enjoy is cooking in it. In fact, we cook a lot more now!
When I received two bottles of gorgeous sparkling wine from Gloria Ferrer, I decided to make a decadent meal of steamed mussels and the most luxurious cheese and olives I could find. The pairing was perfect. As we are parked at a campground, The Hubs and I enjoyed the delicious meal by the fire.
It’s been fun to be parked near our family and friends and to entertain at our place. Even though it’s only 31 feet long, we have everything we need to enjoy a meal with another two to three people. The cool thing about parking at campgrounds is that we grab our wine, build a fire, and make S’mores. I hadn’t done that in forever!
We started our roadtrip in October and have visited Cincinnati, Asheville, Washington D.C., Charleston, and Savannah. We’re in Dallas now spending time with family. As we make our way west towards California, we’re eager to explore the vineyards of Sonoma County.
Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is Carneros’ original sparkling wine house, owned and founded by the Ferrer family of Spain. Named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the breezy, now-famous region in southernmost Sonoma County.
Gloria Ferrer is not only the first sparkling wine house in Sonoma Carneros, but also the first to bring back clones from France to plant their vineyard.
Thirty years later, with 335 acres under vine, the estate vineyards at Gloria Ferrer is known as experts in the production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and produce estate grown still and sparkling wines that rival some of the world’s finest.
Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 500 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years.
I haven’t toured the vineyard, but now I want to. Adding that to my California bucketlist!
