Why I Love Its Texture
Scented geranium is one of those plants that wins you over up close. The leaves are soft, scalloped, and often a little fancy-looking, which makes it perfect for a beautiful mosquito repellent garden.
Brush the leaves and you get that citrusy scent. That fragrance is exactly why it shows up so often in patio plants for mosquitoes.
Why It Shines in Containers
This is one of my favorite plants for front porch containers because it looks elegant without needing flashy flowers. It blends so well with white blooms, trailing vines, and other aromatic foliage plants.
It’s also easy to move around. I like any plant that lets me rearrange my porch when I get bored, which is honestly every June.
Easy Care Basics
Give it bright light, good airflow, and well-drained soil. Pinch the stems now and then to keep it bushy instead of lanky.
Don’t overwater it. That’s the fastest way to turn a cute container into a mushy little regret.
Best Design Pairings
I love pairing scented geranium with sweet alyssum, calibrachoa, or even upright rosemary for a layered look. It also works in a mixed herb pot if you want container plants for mosquito control that feel decorative.
