Why watershield is worth considering
Watershield is one of those underused floating aquatic plants that deserves more love. Its leaves create gentle surface cover, which helps cool the water and limit harsh sun exposure.
I like it when I want a natural, less formal feel. It blends beautifully into a wildlife-friendly pool design.
Where it works best
Watershield belongs in the regeneration area, where it can spread without interrupting swimming. It pairs well with submerged plants underneath, which creates layered cover and better ecosystem balance.
That layered look also feels more natural to me. A pool should connect with the landscape, not fight it.
A small caution
Like most floating plants, it still needs boundaries. If it spreads too much, thin it out so light and airflow stay balanced.
