Hack #4: Style the Space With Mosquito-Repelling Plants
Use Plants as Support, Not a Miracle
I love mosquito-repelling plants, but I’ll be honest: they are not force fields. Lavender, basil, rosemary, mint, lemongrass, and marigolds are better as part of a layered plan than as your only defense.
Still, they do double duty. You get texture, scent, and that lush backyard wedding decor look everybody wants right now.
Put Them Where They Matter
Use marigold containers near entrances, rosemary patio decor around lounge spaces, and basil for mosquitoes near dining zones or drink stations. Lemongrass planters can frame a patio edge beautifully.
I especially like clustering plants where guests linger, not scattering them randomly all over the yard.
Make Them Look Event-Worthy
For weddings, drop herbs and flowers into matching ceramic pots, woven baskets, or painted urns. For BBQs, galvanized tubs and terracotta work great and feel relaxed without looking lazy.
